Sometimes it takes something going wrong to realize something great. Such was the case at local Keene restaurant Athens Pizza when, last week, one of its famous heart-shaped pizzas broke when it was put down between a couple.

When the pizza broke, nothing came of it but later that night the couple split up. “I took it as a sign,” the boyfriend, who wished to remain anonymous, said. “We’d been fighting, so when the pizza heart broke, it was just too ironic to ignore. I knew we had to break up. I owe Athens Pizza a lot. They convinced me to get out of a bad relationship.”

Having heard of the incident, Athens thought it sounded like a good option for couples going through tough times. From now on they will offer the ‘broken heart pizza’ as a way of telling your significant other you want out, without having to go through the trouble of actually telling your significant other.

While broken hearts may ensue, Athens Pizza says they have been reaping the benefits of daters without backbones and will continue to sell the pizza for now.
