Paul Harris Equinox Staff Police are investigating the death of Linus the cat, whose body was found in a squirrel hole on the Keene State College campus. Police said a KSC student called when he saw Linus’ body half buried in the ground near the Brickyard Pond. A full investigation is now underway to discover the truth about what happened.
“We don’t know much right now but we suspect foul play,” police said. However, police mentioned the KSC squirrels looked suspicious. Linus, the friendly feline, appeared in a 2009 edition of The Equinox when he first became ubiquitous around campus.
Linus lived a happy life wandering in and out of residence halls and spent most of his day’s trying to find his way home. Linus was notorious for following strangers and begging for attention... a real people person. A candle light vigil celebrating Linus’ life will be held next Tuesday at 5 a.m. on the L.P. Young Student Center lawn. Contributions in Linus’ memory can be made to the Humane Society of Keene through the office of the The Equinox, located on the third floor of the Student Center.
This isn’t the first instance of foul play involving squirrels at KSC. Just this past summer, a Keene resident reported witnessing a gang of squirrels following a group of children and police were sent to investigate and narrowly missed catching the gang of squirrels. Students are warned to keep their eyes peeled.
