Grand opening set in time for Class of 2010’s reception
Construction is finishing up, staff has moved into their new offices and a date has been set for the grand opening of the new Keene State College Alumni center. Director of Alumni and Parent Relations, Patty Farmer said the process went well.
Although the men and women of the Keene State College lacrosse share a common sport, their respective sports are far from the same. “The two sports share a common name and that’s about it,” said men’s lacrosse head coach Mark Theriault.
Spring is here and, as they say, “hope springs eternal” for baseball fans. This time of year, fans of almost every team in Major League Baseball can convince themselves their team can win the World Series in around seven months. Not every team has a realistic chance of winning the whole thing though.
Dining Commons plays ‘Julie and Julia’ and dishes out French food to students
“Bon Appetit!” were the words that rang out in the Zorn Dining Commons as students ate their meals on Thursday. The DC held a French-themed cuisine event while showing the 2009 film, “Julie & Julia,” in which Meryl Streep portrayed Julia Child, the American born French chef and entrepreneur. March was International Food Month and the DC wanted to celebrate.
Consequences have not stopped some Keene students from being academically dishonest
As students, specifically college students, it is a normality to get up, go to class, get school work done in a timely manner and still have enough time to experience the “college life” that creates those long-lasting memories.
Katrina relief hosted by Artist and Habitat
Keene State students and local residence gathered to aid Katrina relief efforts, which are still in demand five years after the disastrous event. Saturday, March 27 The Starving Artist, a local haunt for musicians and artists to connect and Habitat for Humanity hosted a live music event from noon until 10 p.m.

I felt weirdly violated after my encounter with this brat. I will call him Sid, after the sociopathic bully in “Toy Story.” Sid hadn’t known me for two seconds when he accused me of being a female. I don’t necessarily think I look feminine but perhaps this immature hooligan was taken aback by the ever-so-slightly noticeable blond coloring in my hair.
College continues efforts to expand multiculturalism through jobs, outreach
When Director of Admissions Peggy Richmond started her work at Keene State College 25 years ago, she said the most student diversity was “embarrassingly” present on athletic teams. She said diversity has since spread. She’s right, sort of. Through the Integrative Studies Program and creation of multiple diversity-related positions, KSC set forth lofty goals to increase diversity of the institution, known for having over a 90 percent white, mostly regional population.
