Osbourne’s autobiography has personality

Allison Shufelt Equinox Staff Like millions of Americans, I tuned into MTV’s hit reality show “The Osbournes” every week. So, when I think of the so-called “Prince of Darkness,” I do not instantly associate him with the band Black Sabbath, satanic cults, 80s heavy metal or even Ozzfest, as my parents do.

GAMEFACE 2 Point 0

Activision and Infinity Ward are evil demon monsters

GAMEFACE 2 Point 0

I almost hate to do this because of its hypocritical nature but, for the greater good, I will.
Activision and Infinity Ward are evil demon monsters. They swindle and con the average consumer and make billions of dollars doing so.

PlayStation “Slim.”

GAMEFACE 2 POINT 0

It’s the most gorgeous, radiantly sunny afternoon in July: 75 degrees and not a cloud in the overwhelmingly blue sky. Family and friends are sipping drinks and tracing circles in the sand with their toes at the beach at my grandparent’s lake house. Only a true fool would remain indoors on this serendipitously perfect afternoon; yet there I was.

GameFace 2 Point 0

If you compile the collective awesomeness of making out with the cute girl next door, eating a s’more, listening to a kick ass Blink 182 reunion concert and getting As on all your finals, you might just know what I’m talking about. I spent last Thursday through Sunday in Boston for the inaugural Penny Arcade Expo East, or, as it was referred to all weekend, PAX East.

I very rarely pay for any of the video games I play.

Publishers ship me gratuitous copies of games, both in digital and physical disc forms, every week. No, I don’t know some head-busting secret about these companies and demand games through blackmail, I review games for Web sites.

The fallout between mega-publisher Activision and “Modern Warfare 2”

The fallout between mega-publisher Activision and “Modern Warfare 2” developer Infinity Ward has been a gross, seedy misadventure of pain, anguish and confusion. The game made worldwide appeal, critical acclaim and took in over $1 billion, and yet, the future of the brand is in question. If you haven’t been on the Internet in the past two weeks, here’s what happened.

Video game universe is plagued with inequities, abnormalities and departures

Like any industry, the video game universe is plagued with inequities, abnormalities and departures from what would be deemed as “normative theory” in every corner of its existence.
Video games, as a business, is similar to but much deeper than film. It is based upon the notion of creative expression.

I’m no soothsayer

I don’t enjoy weather predictions. And I never know what I’m going to wear tomorrow. What I do know though, is that 2010 is scheduled to be one of the hardest-hitting, pleasure-filled and exciting years for fans of great video games.

Boob Tube Banter

Blurring the lines of reality

Boob Tube Banter

I constantly make fun of the television I watch in special regards to the amount and the content.

Annoying television characters

Boob Tube Banter

There are just some television characters that get on your nerves. It’s a show you like but, for some reason, one character just never clicks with you. And it’s these characters that bring on a major, and often irrational, hatred on my end. Buffy had three major relationships: Angel, Spike and Riley.

Spring station break

Boob Tube Banter

I have a hopeless devotion to pretty people with ugly problems. For a film major, my television viewing is more like that of a 14-year-old girl than anything else. I would love to say I have a problem with it but my enjoyment of these shows prevents me from regret. I bought the first season of the original “90210” a week before The CW announced it was going revive the show.

You're just not that into it...

Boob Tube Banter

I have a commitment to watching television. I have watched many a show from start to finish both on air and on DVD; I also rarely quit watching a show. I made it through the fourth season of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” despite my utter hatred of it, but I was rewarded with both the fifth and seventh season, which were amazing. Television shows are, in a lot of ways, like a long-term romantic relationship.  The question is when should you keep up with a show through a bad time, or just call it quits?

Lessons for your T.V. leisure

The first lesson we can learn from the 2009-2010 season is Americans still love a good sitcom. For years, ABC has tried to bring back the sitcom, with mediocre attempts at comedy. This season they proved Americans are willing to watch a good sitcom. With “Modern Family,” “The Middle” and “Cougar Town,” ABC has finally brought old school comedy back to television. NBC’s attempt at bringing comedy back into American homes utterly failed.

Surfing the air waves

During spring break I found myself in an unusual quandary. I had two days completely free. I’m not going to claim to be the busiest person on campus but my various responsibilities keep me active enough.
